Kampung Braga merupakan kawasan yang berdekatan dengan jalan Braga, yaitu kawasan yang menjadi salah satu tujuan wisata di Bandung, selain itu kawasan ini juga berada di tepi air sungai Cikapundung. Kawasan ini memiliki kepadatan hunian yang cukup tinggi dan kondisi lingkungan fisik yang kurang baik. Oleh karena itu, makalah ini mencoba untuk mengidentifikasi berbagai kekuatan dan kekurangan yang ada pada kampung Braga dengan letaknya yang cukup strategis dan berdekatan dengan kawasan tujuan wisata. Hasilnya adalah kampung Braga memiliki potensi untuk dijadikan kampung kota yang berkelanjutan dan kawasan tujuan wisata di Bandung. Program yang dilaksanakan untuk mendukung konsep tersebut adalah dengan: penataan kawasan di tepi air sungai Cikapundung; perbaikan kondisi fisik kawasan permukiman, serta Prasarana dan Sarana Umum (PSU ); dan perbaikan kualitas hidup dan kesejahteraan masyarakat.

Sleep Early, Wake Up Early Movement! How to Cope with Health and Traffic Problem in Cities

Our life began when we are waking up. In general, the habits of waking up can be generalized into two group categories; the early riser and the night owl, with both of these groups have their own advantages/disadvantages. This paper is an extension from an idea submitted into Phillips Project + competition which discuss about the phenomenon, and its relationship with our daily activities. What happened in the society nowadays is against the common rules from both aforementioned habits, as we are usually wakes up early and sleep late, due to bad traffic jam or because of workloads of wrong living habits. These habits if not fixed soon, can cause health and mental problem in the future.

Co-Operative Housing Cluster: Renewed Housing Concept for Poverty Alleviation and Economic Development

Indonesia is a country with population of 245,613,043 (July 2011 est.). Despite GDP growth rate of 6.1% (2010 est.), the poverty rate is 13.33% or 32,666,535 (2010) with unemployment rate of 7.1% or 17,438,526 (2010 est.) of which 22.2% or 3,871,353 (2009) of them are between ages 15-24. Although the country’s population is the 4th largest in the world, the GDP per capita remains at US$ 4,200 (2010 est.)
The need to accommodate people has reached emergency levels in Indonesia. The demand for housing every year is 800,000 units, whereas the supply is no more than 500,000 units. In 2004, Indonesia faced a shortage of 5.4 million houses. In 2010, BPS (Indonesian Central Statistics Agency) recorded the increase in shortage of up to 13.6 million houses.

Turning Road to a Public Place: Case Study of Car Free Day Phenomenon in Bandung

Due to increased number of population and the decrease of land plots in Indonesia, currently resulted in the increase of land price and value. Besides the problem of decrease land plots, the government also faced problem lack of infrastructures to support the increased number of cars and other vehicles. As a result, public spaces development has been abandoned in favor of infrastructure development.
This is also worsening with the facts that numbers of public spaces in cities around Indonesia has not being able to support the adequate ratio with the growing population.
